Maria Cybulska in research deals mainly with the analysis of historic and archaeological textiles. In scientific work, she focuses on their research taking into account both the use of modern physico-chemical analysis methods, as well as an analysis of ornaments, techniques, origin and historical context. She cooperates with numerous research and museum institutions in Poland, such as the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences,  Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the National Museum in Warsaw and others, as well as with scientists from abroad. She works also on  the reconstruction of archaeological textiles based on preserved fragments and the design of historic fabric replicas for the needs of renovation of historical interiors. She is the author of several dozen scientific articles and chapters in monographs, devoted to the properties of textiles, historic and archaeological textiles. ORCID: 0000-0002-9364-8820.
She conducts classes in Polish and English in the history of design and textiles, analysis and reconstruction as well as the design of textiles, with particular emphasis on historical fabrics, the use of computer methods in design, the basics of jacquard weaving and selected aspects of sustainable development.
