Prof. Małgorzata Matusiak Ph.D., D.Sc. is a graduate of the Textile Faculty of the Lodz University of Technology. Tt this faculty in 2002, she defended with honours the doctorate in technical sciences. In 2013, she obtained the degree of doctor habilitated in the field of technical sciences, the scientific discipline - textiles. In 2022, she was nominated as a professor in the field of technical sciences, in the scientific discipline of materials engineering.
She started her professional career in 1983 in Cotton Mill Zamtex in Zambrow. In the years 1996 - 2007 she was a researcher at the Institute of Textile Architecture in Lodz, and in the years 2007 - 2012 at the Textile Research Institute. In the years 2008 - 2012 she was the vice-president of the Scientific Council of this institute. Since 2012, she has been a research and teaching employee at the Institute of Textile Architecture, Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design of the Lodz University of Technology. Since 2019, she has been the Chairperson of the Council of Fields of Study in Textile and Fashion Industry and Textiles.
Scientific interests of prof. Matusiak relate to material engineering, in particular the properties, quality classification and technology of cotton, design and technology of clothing, comfort of clothing usage and the geometric structure of the surface of textile materials.
In the years 2012 - 2022 prof. Matusiak was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Committee of Cotton Testing Methods at the International Textile Manufacturers Federation based in Zurich. In 2015, she was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit for her contributions to the environment and the cotton industry. In 2013, she received the distinction "Meritorious for the Cotton Association in Gdynia" for many years of involvement in the work of the Board of the Chamber and the work of the Laboratory Committee, and for promoting its positive image in the country and on the international arena. From 2021, she is an Honorary Member of the Gdynia Cotton Association.
Prof. Matusiak is the author of 2 monographs and co-editor of 1 monograph, author or co-author of: 19 chapters in scientific monographs, 96 scientific articles, 3 national patents, numerous scientific papers and popular science publications. She received 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals for inventions presented at international exhibitions of inventions. For years she has been cooperating with foreign institutes and universities, she is also an expert of the European Commission.
