Iwona Frydrych, Ph.D. D.Sc. completed her studies at the Faculty of Textiles of the Lodz University of Technology in 1979 (specialization - textile metrology). In the same year, she started working at this Faculty, where she works on different positions and in various units up till now. She also completed her doctorate (1986) and habilitation (1995) at the Faculty of Textiles of the Lodz University of Technology. In 2007 she obtained the title of Professor. She took part in 5 cooperation scholarships: at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (USA - Fulbright scholarship), at the Institute Recherche de Polytechnique in Mulhouse (France), at the Institut de Tecnologia Quimica y Textil in Barcelona (Spain), at the University of Ghent (Belgium) and in Faserinstitut Bremen in Bremen (Germany).
In the years 1997-2006, she also worked at the Institute of Textile Architecture in Łódź as a scientific director, and in the years 2006-2021, as a scientific consultant at the Central Institute for Labor Protection - National Research Institute.
Scientific interests of Iwona Frydrych, Ph.D. D.Sc. deals with such issues as the material design of clothing, human comfort in clothing, made up properties of fabrics, textile metrology, properties and methods of testing cotton fibers, etc.
Iwona Frydrych is the author of two monographs in Polish, five chapters in English-language monographs, author or co-author of 200 scientific publications (Hirsh index - 12), and even more international conference publications. She is a co-author of 4 patents and two utility models. She has got many awards and medals for her work, including Knight's Cross of Polonia Restituta. She promoted many masters and engineers as well as 8 doctors of technical sciences in the scientific discipline of Textiles and Materials Engineering. She is the scientific supervisor of one more Ph.D. student. As a manager and contractor, she has implemented many research grants supported by the National Center for Research and Development.
Iwona Frydrych is a member of many organizations, the most important of which are: Fiber Society, SCITC ICAC, SWP, PTMTiS, Polish Alumni Fulbright Association, member of the Board of the Gdynia Cotton Association (currently president), International Committee on Cotton Testing Methods of ITMF, member of CEN WG31 TC 248, WG 24 PKN.
